I was extremely pleased to take part in a groundbreaking feature for the July 2016 issue of Attitude, in which several LGBT+ representatives attended a roundtable discussion led by Matthew Todd (then editor of Attitude) and the Duke of Cambridge at Kensington Palace. I’m not a monarchist by any stretch of the imagination, but still I was struck by the fact that none of Prince William’s forebears would have taken such a publicly pro-LGBT stance. Quite the contrary, I still remember Princess Anne pointedly lamenting the ‘innocent’ victims of AIDS (as opposed to the people who deserved to contract HIV). Here’s an accompanying visual.
