Stoney (singer Shaun Murphy) and Meatloaf (later styled Meat Loaf) were plucked, like so many talents in the 1970s, from the cast of Hair. They were signed to Motown subsidiary Rare Earth Records. But their terrific 1971 album didn’t find the audience it deserved. Fortunately, reissues powerhouse Second Disc Records/Real Gone Music, recently remastered the LP and expanded it to over twice its original length for their superb release: Stoney & Meatloaf: Everything Under The Sun. I spoke to Stoney and a small handful of other commentators for a Record Collector feature. Available here.

The original LP, 1971

The expanded reissue, 2022

Feature available in RC 537
