This certainly rings true for me, Charles. Although I only lived in London for 2 years, I always found locals very welcoming and more than anything, very accepting of me. As a New Zealander I wanted to avoid the typical expat experience of surrounding myself with other Kiwis in order to feel more at home. I made friends with people from all walks of life, from wide ranging parts of Britain and abroad. I loved my time there and am so glad that I immersed myself in London and its wonderful people. I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Thanks for your response! I felt a bit cautious about writing in a more strident and opinionated way than I usually do, but I’m glad I did, and I’m thrilled that your experiences of London were so positive.
