Blinky Williams (born Sondra Williams) was and is Motown’s most unjustly overlooked star – and if there were any doubts about that, they were scotched when the terrific Blinky anthology, Heart Full Of Soul, was issued in a double-deluxe CD package by Real Gone/Second Disc Records a few months ago. The collection’s two discs are filled with mainly previously unreleased treasures from the Motown vaults, including a complete Blinky album that never came out and two further Blinky albums that were not completed. I spoke to Blinky for Boisdale Life magazine, asking her what it was like to join Motown in the late 1960s and what this belated recognition means to her. Full feature here (page 42).
