I know I’m not alone in absolutely adoring the far-too-few albums by American singer/songwriter, Rita Jean Bodine, who cut such a dash in the mid-1970s with her flamboyant sense of style and even better music. Please keep your eyes peeled for my short-but-sweet chat with RJB in a forthcoming issue of RC. Rita was one of three fine singer/songwriters on the 20th Century label in the 1970s, the other two being Harriet Schock and Patti Dahsltrom. She was the one with the most developed concept in terms of presentation and persona – to an extent, she was performing as an alter ego which, as we’ll discover, wasn’t always easy for her. To my knowledge, Rita hasn’t spoken to the press about her music career since the 1970s, so it’s quite a moment for fans (me included)…
